Essential training for those who work in a sporting environment and might be required to administer first aid as a result of a sports injury such as muscle strain or joint injury.

An essential first aid course for those who have responsibility for people within a sporting environment, for example:

  • Sports Coaches
  • Fitness and Gym Instructors
  • Referees and Club Officials
  • Physiotherapists and Trainers
  • Teachers and Parents

 

Duration

A six-hour course consisting of theory and practical work.

  • Aims and principles of First Aid
  • Event planning and record keeping
  • Arriving at the scene
  • Casualty assessment
  • Top-to-toe survey
  • Recovery position
  • Hygiene control
  • Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Care of the unconscious casualty
  • Bleeds
  • Soft tissue injuries (sprains and strains) and management
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Head injuries
  • Spinal injuries
  • Hyperthermia / Hypothermia

Certification    

 

Although there is no formal assessment, the instructor will assess all learners throughout the course and issue a Certificate of Attendance valid for 3 years.
