AED (defibrillator) Training

Cardiac Arrest is the biggest killer in this country. Each year over 150,000 people die as a result. Many could have been saved if a defibrillator had been available.

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are now becoming more common throughout a range of workplaces. A casualty's survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it.

This very practical course will allow suitably qualified First Aid personnel to use the AED competently and with confidence. Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED, but it also revisits some basic First Aid skills, including resuscitation.

A six hour course consisting of theory, practical work and assessment.

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Heart attacks
  • AED Safety Measures
  • Scenario training
  • Probability of survival
  • Chain of survival
  • Resuscitation
  • AED Maintenance
  • AED use
  • Responsibilities
  • Paediatric Defibrillation

There is no formal assessment, however the instructor will assess all learners throughout the day on all subjects covered. This qualification is valid for twelve months.

It is recommended that scenario training is conducted periodically and a formal update is run at the end of each 12 months.
